In Damascus, many orders are delayed not by the restaurant or shop, but by the moment the captain asks: where are you? Verbal directions grow long, landmarks repeat, and “the yellow building” becomes three buildings in the same alley. The practical fix is not a longer explanation — it is a fixed digital address you send as one link.

Why verbal directions fall short in Damascus

Many areas have side entrances, similar alleys, and buildings of similar height and color. A live pin helps, but it can still leave a driver facing a facade without knowing which door or floor. Extra calls waste time for both sides, especially at peak hours or on a weak network.

A daily flow before the captain asks for your location

1. Create your Anwani address while standing at the real building entrance.
2. Set the city to Damascus, and add neighborhood or street when you can.
3. Write short stable instructions: floor number, a landmark that does not change monthly, or which side the entrance is on.
4. Save the code and link in notes or a WhatsApp saved message.
5. When the order is confirmed, send the link immediately instead of a long paragraph.

What orderers need in dense districts and nearby countryside

The principle is the same across neighborhoods: entrance accuracy beats a general area name. In a compound, mention the block number or a clear signboard. If the entrance is from an alley, say so in the instructions so the driver does not stop only on the main street.

For shops and delivery platforms

Ask customers for an Anwani link instead of “next to the pharmacy.” The link opens in a browser with no install and reduces location arguments. If the address is PIN-protected, request the PIN on a direct channel with the customer, not in a public chat. See sharing safely with a driver.

Common Damascus mistakes

• Directions based on a temporary shop or a sign that changes.
• Sending a live location while moving instead of a saved address at the door.
• Forgetting to update the address after moving to a new home.
• Sharing a screenshot with no openable map link.

When is a pin enough — and when do you need a code?

A live pin can work for a quick meetup in a known square. For apartment door delivery, or a lookalike compound, a code with details is clearer. Compare other methods in Anwani vs pin vs what3words.
