Arwad Island

Arwad is a small inhabited island facing Tartus and the only populated island of Syria. It was an important Phoenician sea city and still keeps parts of an old wall, two castles, narrow lanes, and wooden boat building. The boat crossing, maritime character, and walls make it valued by coast and history visitors.

جزيرة أرواد جزيرة مأهولة صغيرة تقع مقابل مدينة طرطوس وهي الجزيرة السورية الوحيدة المسكونة. كانت مدينة فينيقية بحرية مهمة، وما زالت تحتفظ ببقايا سور قديم وقلعتين وأزقة ضيقة وصناعة قوارب خشبية. يمنحها الوصول إليها بالقارب وطابعها البحري وأسوارها قيمة خاصة لزوار الساحل والتاريخ.
