Shahba Archaeological City

Shahba Archaeological City is a Roman planned town in As-Suwayda on the hills of Jabal al-Arab in southern Syria. Once called Philippopolis after Emperor Philip the Arab, it still shows a paved street, baths, a theatre, temples, and monuments. Its intact Roman plan and visible ruins make it special for history and archaeology visitors.

مدينة شهبا الأثرية مدينة رومانية محفوظة المعالم تقع في محافظة السويداء على تلال جبل العرب جنوب سوريا. عُرفت قديماً باسم فيليبوبوليس نسبة إلى الإمبراطور فيليب العربي ابن المدينة، وتضم شارعاً مرصوفاً وحمامات ومسرحاً ومعابد ونصباً تذكارية ما زالت قائمة. يمنحها تخطيطها الروماني المتكامل وآثارها الواضحة قيمة خاصة لعشاق التاريخ والآثار والاستكشاف.
