The Umayyad Mosque of Damascus stands at the heart of the old city at the end of Al-Hamidiyah Souq. Built in the early eighth century under the Umayyads on a site with older religious layers, it is famous for its wide courtyard, golden mosaics, and three minarets. الجامع الأموي الكبير في دمشق مسجد تاريخي يقوم في قلب مدينة دمشق القديمة عند نهاية سوق الحميدية. بُني في مطلع القرن الثامن الميلادي في العهد الأموي فوق موقع ذي طبقات دينية أقدم، ويشتهر بصحنه الواسع وفسيفسائه الذهبية ومآذنه الثلاث. يمنحه حجمه وزخارفه ومكانته في تاريخ العمارة الإسلامية قيمة خاصة لزوار التاريخ والعمارة.
